Teenage Trials
A high school junior in Durham, Chris balances his time between homework for advanced classes, college applications, chores at home and club soccer practice. He’s hoping to play in college and pursue a career in engineering. However, in today’s competitive college application process, the slightest edge can give one student a spot over another, and there is no room for mistakes.

A 73 Vietnam veteran, David Bruce “Buck” Bennett now lives by himself in a trailer in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In 2010, he was in a car accident and needed a blood transfusion. From that transfusion, Bennett got HIV and now takes roughly $700 worth of medicine each day to survive.
